Dreams FC head coach, Charles Kwablah Akonnor has stated that his charges are poised for action against Ashanti Gold despite the slender defeat to Kotoko over the weekend.
The Premier League debutants suffered a 1-0 in the hands of the Porcupine Warriors, thanks to a ate minute strike from the spot by Amos Frimpong.
Akonnor’s men will face the defending champions in a GPL Week 24 encounter at the Theatre of Dreams, Dawu having won the first leg by a goal to nil through midfielder Emmanuel Hayford’s strike.
But despite the patchy start by the Miners, Bashir Hayford’s men have started picking up the pieces.
And Akonnor believes his players are highly motivated to record the double over the defending league champions on Saturday.
“I think the players are motivated, they showed good spirit in the game against Kotoko.” He said in a pre-match press interview.
“We did what we wanted to do, obviously, we were aware that we wouldn’t have much chances but the chance that comes our way, we should be able to convert them by scoring.”
“Unfortunately, we didn’t score though we had chances but in all, I think we did very well.”
“They controlled the game, they played and possessed the ball very well so I was really impressed with the way we’ve played and if you look at the progress that we’ve made from the Medeama game till now I think it’s been good.” Akonnor lauded his team for the progress.
The spirit is very high, yesterday we made some changes in training and I was so impressed with what I saw and I believe that come Saturday we’ll do well to get the three points.” He added.
