Leicester’s Jeffrey Schlupp in limbo as WBA move breaks down – sources

Jeffrey Schlupp has been left frustrated after Leicester blocked his proposed move to West Bromwich Albion, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Manager Claudio Ranieri had told Schlupp he could leave, but the club’s owners and director of football refused to sanction the transfer.

Schlupp’s future has been the subject of speculation for several weeks and Ranieri told the Ghana international he may need to leave the club for regular first-team football.

Schlupp, who made 24 appearances for Leicester last season as they won the Premier League title, has indicated that he was willing to leave the King Power Stadium having been used mainly as a squad player.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis is keen to take the versatile player to The Hawthorns before the close of the transfer window. He has seen four bids rejected with the Foxes’ director of football Jon Rudkin now saying that the 23-year-old is not for sale.

The club’s stance has left Schlupp unhappy, with the player now in limbo over his future. He was left out of Leicester’s opening day defeat to Hull City on Saturday.
