Medeama fails to qualify for semis after 1-0 defeat against MO Bejaia

Ghana’s sole continental representatives Medeama SC have failed to qualify to the semi-final of the CAF confederation Cup following a 1-0 defeat against MO Bejaia in Algeria.

The Mauves and Yellows needed a draw to advance to the next round of the competition.

The Ghanaian side having contained the pressure from the Algerians in the first half conceded 7 minutes into the second half after midfielder Morgan Beltorangal struck a thunderbolt to beat goalkeeper Daniel Agyei in post for Medeama.

Coach Prince Owusu taking no chances introduced the likes of Bismark Oppong and Emmanuel Agyemang to beef-up the attack but never made any difference.

Medeama finish third despite having the same points, 8, as Bejaia due to the application of head to head rule.

They drew goalless with Bejaia in Ghana last month.

MO Bejaia thus joins TP Mazembe in the final four, after they also defeated Young Africans in the other Group match by 3-1 in Mazembe.
