Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuiye has tasked the Black Stars players to pay their winning bonuses if they beat Rwanda in the final African Cup Of Nations qualifier on Saturday.
Nii Lante has ordered the Ghana Football Association to invite entirely local players to honour the game since the ministry is cash strapped and cannot fund the tickets of foreign players who will be called for the game.
But Black Stars deputy captain, Andre Ayew has promised to pay for the tickets of the foreign-based players who cannot pay for their flight fares following the minister’s refusal to release funds for the game.
Nii Lante, who commended the player for his kind gesture urged them to pay their own winning bonuses after the game.
“This is called sacrifice, for a player to pay his air ticketing to Ghana to play a match, they will also pay for their own winning bonus if they win,” he told Kumasi-based Otec FM.
“And we will be even happy if they (players) give us money to support the Maidens,” he added.
Coach Avram Grant has already invited foreign-based players for the game.
