Ghana coach Avram Grant has asked the country’s Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuye to stay away from player selection following the ruckus between the Ghana FA and the Ministry.
Nii Vanderpuye ordered the GFA to invite entirely local-based players to honour the country’s final AFCON Qualifier against Rwanda because his outfit is cash strapped.
The situation forced the invited players to pay their own airfares to honour the game.
The former Chelsea Boss insists such interference from such office will not bring success to the country and that the Minister must stop poking his nose in the selection of players to the national team.
“At the African Cup of Nations it was like this. The players gave everything, I did the best I could, it was a great staff, and the minister and all the others gave us everything to concentrate on football,” Avram Grant said at a press conference on Thursday.
“This is how it needs to be. Immediately the players pay the tickets and the other people want to be coaches, maybe I will be a player,”
After a stormypreparations the match comes off this weekend at the Accra Sports Stadium.
