Ampem Darkoa Ladies halted the dominance of Hasaacas Ladies by securing a 1-0 victory over the Sekondi-based side in the final of this season’s National Women’s League at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
A solitary strike through Black Maidens midfielder, Grace Asantewaa was enough to end Hasaacas’ reign when it comes to women football in the country.
Ampem Darkoa’s win also avenged the defeat the suffered in the hands of Hasaacas Ladies in last season’s final at the Tema Park, where they lost by a goal to nil.
Hasaacas Ladies had won the league on three consecutive times and were hoping to make it four out of four on the afternoon.
Asantewaa scored the only goal of the game for the Techiman-based club through a well taken free-kcik on the 65th minute.
Hasaacas Ladies finished top of Southern Zone, whilst Ampem Darkoa also emerged as the Northern Zone winners.
Priscilla Adobea won the goal king award with 16 goals, and Grace Asantewaa who scored the only goal of the game was adjudged as the best player of the season.
