Bechem United go in search of their first major trophy when they come up against Okwahu United in the MTN FA Cup final at the New Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.
Currently placed 8th on the Ghana Premier League table, Bechem United are hoping to beat their second tier opponents to lift the giant trophy.
Okwahu United on the other hand will be looking to win the FA Cup trophy again, having won the 1986 edition of the competition.
Ibrahim Merigah, who played a key role the Okwahu 86 squad that won the trophy, is determined to win it with the current team as a coach.
Speaking at the Pre-match press conference on Friday, Merigah was confident that his team is poised to cause an upset and lift this year’s edition of the competition.
“I am warning our opponents to prepare for a shocking defeat because my players and I are ready to do anything to win this trophy”, the Okwahu United legend stated.
Taking his turn to address the media during Friday’s press conference, Bechem United coach Manuel Zacharias stressed on the importance of winning the FA Cup for his club and the people of Bechem.
“”For me the FA Cup competition is important and winning it would be historic for this club. I am trying my best to finish the League in a good position but for the FA Cup everything I want is to win and I believe we can do it,” Zacharias said.
Okwahu United have secured the services Coach Annor Walker, the man who steered Nania FC to the final of the 2011 edition of the competition and helped them defeat Asante Kotoko in the final match.
Bechem United are however relying on their recent impressive form which has seen them win their last four matches on a roll, including a 3-1 win over Hearts of Oak.
The match which will be preceded by the National Women’s League Championship play off, will kick off at 6:30pm.
