Former boxing legend Mike Tyson is backing Floyd Mayweather in the Mayweather-McGregor bout on August 26, also criticising Conor McGregor for allowing the fight to use the rules of boxing.
Mayweather retired in September 2015 with a record of 49-0, but will step back into the ring at the age of 40 to face the 29-year-old UFC fighter in what is being hailed as the boxing match of the millennium, one that will net both Mayweather and McGregor a very large paycheck.
“McGregor is going to get killed boxing,” Tyson told the podcast Pardon My Take.
“I got mad because I thought they were going to use MMA rules against boxing because that’s what it’s all about: can the boxer beat the MMA guy?”
As a result of the boxing rules, Tyson sees a clear imbalance in the fight.
“McGregor put his dumbass in a position where he’s gonna get knocked out because Mayweather’s been doing this all his life, since he was a baby,” he continued.
“McGregor can’t kick and grab and stuff, so he won’t stand much of a chance.”
