Head coach of the India U-17 side, Norton De Matos Luis has said they deserved to lose to “formidable” Ghana in their last group game of the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Ghana rolled over the hosts with a 4-0 hammering on Thursday afternoon, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
Captain Eric Ayiah netted twice, with Emmanuel Toku and Richard Danso scoring a goal each to complete the emphatic win for the twinkle twinkle little Stars.
Norton indicated that his players did well but the Black Starlets were too strong on the day for them.
“Ghana deserved the win, the game was very tough for us but in the first half the players played very well”.
“In the second half, we made three mistakes and got punished Ghana is a very formidable side”.
“Again, congratulations to Ghanaians, the players played much more than we expected from them”.
“I’m also very proud of my boys. In the first half we played very well, but in the second half, we had no legs and no physical strength to play against a team like Ghana”
The defeat ended the Indian’s campaign.
