Asante kotoko has won taken an impressive and unexpected win over Accra Hearts of Oak at the Tamale Sports Stadium in the MTN FA Cup final match.
The signal of victory started showing so early for the porcupine warriors when in less than two minutes, they got themselves ahead through a ‘fine striker’s goals’ by Sadick Adams. It was an assist from Kwame Boahene after he intercepted a pass a few meters behind the penalty box of Accra Hearts of Oak.
Sadick had his second goal through a penalty conceded by a Hearts defender on the 31st minute. The first half was almost over when a mistake by Vincent Atinga presented a glorious opportunity for Sadick to make it three, and he did really make it count.
The first half of the match was dominated by Asante Kotoko, as Hearts manager, Frank Elliot Nutal, decided to play a 4 – 4 – 2 formation in spite of his team’s consistency with a 3 – 4 – 3. One could see that it really cost them a lot in the first half.
The second half, however, saw Hearts dictating the pace of the game, but could only reduce the deficit by just a goal through a brilliant header by Thomas Abbey. This was probably, due to the fact that the Hearts manager has reverted to their familiar 3 – 4 – 3 formation
Hearts fans, in particular will be very disappointed due to the fact that the Kotoko forward, who they call ‘penalty striker,’ has actually out smarted their player to win such a big match for his team with a hat – trick, scoring two in open play and one through a penalty.
