The Gambia National Female U-17 team Coach and assistant captain are upbeat ahead of Saturday’s crucial World Cup qualifier against the Black Maidens of Ghana.

Baby Scorpions of the Gambia defeated Sierra Leone in the first round qualifier to face their Ghanaian counterparts in the second round.

Both the Gambia and Ghana are poised for a place at next year’s FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup in Uruguay.

Abdoulie Bojang, the head coach said he trust his players.

“Personally for me I always have the believe, trust and confidence in my players.

“Our primary aim is to develop the girls and win at home.

“The way we trained and what we trained, if at all they did not understand, then I will be worried. But that is not the case.”, Bojang said.

Saturday’s game will be the first time The Gambia is playing Ghana in a Women’s World Cup qualifier.

Ola Buwaro, who scored one in a 3 – 0 defeat to Sierra Leone in BO City in October said they will score more goals against Ghana.

“Any team we meet we can beat them because our confidence is we have a good Coach who does train us very well.

“Ghana may be good on paper but in the pitch is ninety minutes. So we can challenge Ghana no matter what; we will win.

“If we can match our national team during test matches, any team that we face we can match them.”, Buwaro said.

Ola Buwaro, however, called on Gambians to come out in numbers to cheer the girls on Saturday.

Both were speaking to the Press at a Pre-Match conference held at the Football House.

The Gambia plays Ghana on Saturday 2nd December at the Independence Stadium in Bakau at 4:30 pm local time.

The Gambian football Federation says entrance to the game on Saturday is free except the VIP section which is pegged at D300 (equivalent to seven US $7Dollars).

Two weeks later, the Gambia will make a trip to Ghana ahead of the return leg between the 15th and 17th December.

The Winner of the double legged tie will face the winner between Tunisia and Libya vs. Djibouti in the third round qualifier scheduled for February next year.
