The people of the Volta Region have vouched to give their support to Isaac Dogbe when he enters the ring on January 6, 2018 at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.
The “Royal Storm” Dogbe, who knocked down Argentine, Nicolas Javier Chacon, will be fighting Mexican Cesar Juarez for the WBO Interim Super Bantamweight title.
The 23 year old, who has the dream of taking Ghana boxing to the World, recently increased his records to 17 bouts, 11 KO’s with no loss. He will however face one of the toughest opponent, Juarez, who has 20 fights, 15 KO’s and 5 loses.
Come Saturday, January 6, 2018, the Volta Regional Boxing Federation, as a way of support will be mounting giant screens in three major towns for public view of the bout.
Chairman of the VRBF, Foster Enam Dagadu spoke TalksenseSports in an exclusive interview.
“Our latest plan, so far as boxing in the Volta region, Ghana as well as the World is concern is, we are all in high expectation of the big bout between our brother Isaac Dogbe and Cesar Juarez. It is our plan to mount at least big screen in 3 major cities, is Hohoe, Ho and Keta, the home town of Dogbe. We are also trying to organize a jama group to move to the Bukom Boxing Arena. We will chant local songs for our brother to urge him on as he fights because this is more than a World cup for the people of the region.”
Enam, also called on all Celebrities from the region to help champion the cause of raising funds through a tour.
“We are therefore calling on all the celebrities in the region, to help us. Calling on Edem, Tony Bebli of StarrFm, Abigail Sena Sosu and others. We need to raise some funds also to help support him. We will do this through a tour, and we need these Celebs to do that for our brother. We also need money as well to mount these platforms”
The significance of this bout is for Dogbe to get a chance of being handed a World title fight, should he win.
