Kotoko sign Emmanuel Owusu

Asante Kotoko have completed its first major signing ahead of the 2017-18 season following the capture of defender Owusu Emmanuel on Thursday.   Owusu, a former captain and center-back of Division One side, Nea Salamina, penned down a three-year deal with the reigning FA Cup winners.   The lanky gaurdsman is expected to replace Awal Mohammed, whose contract with the Reds expired at the end of the 2016-17 season.   Owusu had been training with the two-time African champions since they started their preseason last month, and his performance caught the eyes of the former Chelsea gaffer.   Polack is planning to revamp his squad ahead of the new campaign as Kotoko will be playing in next year's Caf Confederation Cup. The club is also preparing for the upcoming G-8 tournament scheduled to commence on January 6, next year.   Owusu was instrumental when Salamina lost 1-2 to Kotoko at the quarter-final of last season's FA Cup competition in Kumasi.   By Daniel Osei ( For more sports news and updates, follow on Twitter at @Herosportsgh and on Facebook at Herosportsgh.)
