The 7th Edition and final hour of WEST AFRICA WEEKLY SPORTS DIGEST for 2017 comes to you courtesy of our 15 network of correspondents and rebroadcasted in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Ghana and The Gambia.

IN THE PROGRAMME THIS WEEK:

From the muddy pitches of Claratan in Liberia to the greatest stadia in Europe, and now the President Elect of Liberia. We look back at the extraordinary journey of former footballer, now politician, George Weah!

Elsewhere, why African players are going bankrupt? You may have probably been touched by the plight of footballer Emmanuel Eboué who has gone homeless and hopeless.

There is football, and then there is small goals football. We will be in the Ivory Coast to hear how small goals football is fast catching on and attracting a lot of enthusiasts from all skill levels and age.

Also as the January transfer window opens in Europe, many African players are currently without a club. But thanks to their experience, and others their talent, some could win a contract in January window. We are going to take a look at them in all particular order.

In Nigeria, some women takes up the art of learning martial art for self-defence against rapist.

Plus, in the final hour of the programme for 2017; AFCON, 2018 WC qualifiers, Hayatou out and little known Ahmad pulled off a shock.

So how can you describe your year under review in African sport?
