SWAG -VOLTA to be inaugurated

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana, SWAG will be inaugurating their Volta Regional chapter on Thursday, February 1, 2018.

The initiative has become very necessary as SWAG wants to expand the Association to all ten regions of Ghana. About 15 members will be inaugurated with others to join later.

The President of SWAG, Kwabena Yeboah, Secretary William Ezah and 1 other member are expected in Ho at Modern Media Training Institute, Ho at 11am, to inaugurate the members who have showed their interest by way of filling of forms to work assiduously to promote sports in the region. These members, who are mainly sports broadcasters, are from the South, North and Central Volta.

Interestingly enough, Volta becomes the first region to be inaugurated.

Secretary General, William Ezah in explaining the significance of the inauguration, tells, the dream to create regional associations was long realized.

“We will be coming to Ho on Thursday, to inaugurate a version of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, in the Volta Region. There is a possibility that, myself, the President and one other member will come. It is very important because it is the first in the list of regions that we’re going to inaugurate as part of our outreach programs. Well, it has been an Agenda for the Association for so many years, since the time of Mr Ackah Anthony till today. And we have always had challenges, but I think the way is clear now for us to set the ball rolling, especially at the regional level.”

An interim executive will be given the mandate to start work after the inauguration, until formalization.

SWAG doesn’t only write about the exploits or otherwise of our Sports men and women in and outside Ghana but also Awards deserving Sports personalities in various categories in arguably the most distinguished events in Ghana.

This year’s SWAG Awards Night which is the 43rd, is set for Saturday, April 28, 2018.
