The President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, Kwabena Yeboah has advised young journalists in the Volta Region not to assume that because negativity sells, they must always find faults in people and associations at the detriment of other good things happening in the same quarters.
Speaking in Ho Thursday, on the inauguration of a regional branch of SWAG in the country, the ace broadcaster says the need for young people to be critical is part of journalism but that should not be done out of malice forgetting the goods sides of associations or persons.
“You can be critical. But don’t do it out of malice. If you want to be credible and relevant, get it right. Highlight the wrong, highlight the good, as you do, you will still earn the respect of those you criticize. It shouldn’t be out of malice, ill-will”.
A three-member interim committee led by Eric Eli Adzie has been put together to steer the affairs of the 15 member body.
The rests are Davis Attuquaye Clottey and Tilda Elinam Acorlor.
This is the first in its 50 years history that swag has inaugurated a regional branch.
