Ghana’s Netball team hosts Nigeria for an international Independence friendly match on March 3, 2018.
The match which, will be played at the Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium is to commemorate Ghana’s Independence Day after a similar match was played in October last year in Lagos.
Ghana who was able to beat their nemesis back in Nigeria would need consistency to win the return leg. In that regard, the Ghana Netball Federation has called 16 players to begin nonresidential camping on Monday 26th of February.
President of the Ghana Netball Federation, Rev. Emmanuel Dzanie Nikio who expects a stiffer opposition believes they are up to the task, in confirming the event to Herosportsgh.com.
“Ghana will play Nigeria, in an international Netball match, to commemorate Ghana’s Independence Day on 3rd March at the Sports Hall in Accra, at the Accra Sports Stadium. Nigeria is represented by the PMB Club of Ikohi, Lagos. They will arrive in Accra on 2nd March, in the evening. I am expecting a stiffer opposition this time but we’re training well to meet them.”
Ghana versus Nigeria has always been a rivalry in every aspect of life, as the West African neighbours always want to prove a point.
The National Netball team will consequently be preparing for the Africa Senior Championship in August, which is a qualifier to the World Netball tournament.
The team failed to participate in last year’s African championship but had their affiliation fee paid by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
