The Volta Regional Boxing Federation (VRBF) has indefinitely postponed their anticipated Boxing Seminar.
The seminar which is supposed to begin Sunday, February 25, to Saturday, March 3 at the Pensioners Hall in Ho has been postponed due to low patronage.
With the numerous media hypes of the seminar, the Federation has collated less than 10 interested people and thinks it’s rather too low as they expected 50 people.
The seminar, first of its kind in the region, which seeks to train and certify participants to become Coaches, Referees, Judges, Ring Announcers, Promoters, Match Makers among others is under the supervision of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF).
Regional Chairman, Enam Foster Dagadu tells Herosportsgh.com, they will step up in terms of the publicity while talking to the facilitators to arrive at a new date.
“It is just unfortunate that the number we’re looking for, we couldn’t get. As I am speaking to you, we have less than 10 people who are ready. At least, 50 should be participating because the resources involved and training materials are not something small to go by. There was one in Greater Accra which 67 participated, so at least the resource person’s expects a limited number of 50. Because this is going for free and it’s the first time but our people are not showing interest.
We tried our best spreading this seminar across, through radio and online. So we are postponing the date from the 25th until further notice. We will consult the instructors in Accra and come out with a fixed date and we will extend our tentacles in terms of publicity to those who are yet to hear the information.”
The Region, who has seen most of their talents moving to Accra due to inadequate training equipment’s, intends to spread the sport through the seminar.
The current VRBF, upon taking up the mantle in 2015 has been able to organize 1 non-title bout in Ho, which was in August 2017. They also have plans for another bout one in Hohoe.
All interested in the seminar are to contact 0249466263/ 0244212151 for registration.
