Greater Accra Cricket League enters week 2

The Greater Accra Cricket League which began on Sunday, February 18, 2018, continues this Sunday, February 25, at the Achimota Cricket Ovals.

The T20 league which has 8 participating clubs has been divided into two groups, (namely Alpha and Beta). The system of the league is such that, the last club Alpha gets relegated to Beta whiles the top club in Beta gets the promotion to Alpha.

Alpha clubs, who will be using Oval A, have Dilma, Everest, GTA, and Nsromaa Titans. Week one saw Dilma hosting Everest in the morning while Nsromma Titans played GTA in the afternoon. Isaac Aboagye who joined Everest from BGC was adjudged Man of the match after Everest beat Dilma with 91 runs. Aboagye scored 55, out off 39 balls. Ramesh, who is best at spinning, took 3 wickets in his first over.

Nsromma Titans also begun with a 30 runs win over GTA. Captain Mark Bawa played an instrumental role in their win, scoring 68 runs, a score that got him the Man of the Match Award. GTA’s Nadim hit the boundaries 8 times but couldn’t help them get a win in the second innings.

Beta which is made up of 2 groups has Oasis CC, Nsromma GPS XI and City CC in Group 1, while MMG, Kibi Leopards and Cool Tempers are in group 2.

On Oval B, Nsromma Kibi Leopards, a U-19 side from Nsromma Cricket Academy showed some class but couldn’t go pass new entrants Cool Tempers Cricket Club, who won by 3 runs in the morning.

Oasis CC engaged Nsromma GPS Super XI, another U-19 side from Nsromma Cricket Academy in the afternoon. The match ended in a draw as both sides scored 112 runs. 15-year-old Paul Ayolohene of Nsromma GPS Super XI was adjudged Man of the Match after his 42-50 score. He was motivated by the Vice President of the Ghana Cricket Association, Emmanuel Kwame Asare with GH₵50.00 which was presented by Var Girish of Everest.

Week 2 will have Dilma against GTA at 9 am, while Nsromma Titans face Everest CC at 1 pm on Oval A. The other matches see Oasis versus City CC at 9 am and MMG versus Cool Tempers at 1 pm.

The League is currently without Sponsors and the Association is working tirelessly to get some.
