Motivation keeps Everest going -Bharani

One of the topmost players of Everest Cricket Club, Bharani Kumar has told Herosportsgh.com, their secret to winning is due to the kind of motivation and support they receive.

Everest, an Indian owned Club, formed in 2015 does everything to win anything in Cricket, with a huge support from Golden Dragon Casino, Osu. The runaway winners of the ongoing Greater Accra Cricket League with 1 match to go have also won the Diwali cup twice.

Everest defeated Nsromma Taysec Titans on Sunday, March 18, to win the 2018 edition of the Greater Accra League, gathering 10 points, 4 away from 2nd placed Nsromma.

Everest achieved this feat, after going unbeaten in the league, with a double win over their rivals, Nsromma Taysec Titans, who they lost to in last year’s finals. Nsromma Titans gave Everest a scare in their week 2 fixture, but the latter triumphed with 4 wickets, having recorded a 132-8 and 134-6 scores. Their week 3 wasn’t also easy for them against GTA Superkings, but the determination of players like David Ankrah, Khan Halim, Simon Ateak and Bharani Kumar gave them to victory again.

In their return encounter on Sunday, Nsromma won the toss, decided to field first and had Everest score 157-4. David Nii Ankrah scored half a century off 24 balls while Simon Ateak scored 37-29. Nsromma managed 112-8, as Bharani Kumar took 4-4 and gave away 15 runs. Everest however, won the match by 45 runs.

Bharani, a senior player who has won Man of the Match on several occasions with excellent batting and bowling figures expressed his gratitude to all who keep supporting them, especially their main sponsors, Golden Dragon Casino.

“I am grateful, first of all to Golden Dragon Casino, Osu, for being behind us always. We have come this far because of the motivation they give us. Great thanks to our chairman Mahesh Krishna Narra, and to our directors, Vivek, Nani, Sekhar and Girish. Last year, we lost to Nsromma in the finals but we have never given up. We have the fighting spirit and the quality to keep winning. In Everest Cricket Club, all the practice sessions are well structured and for this league, national team captain Isaac Aboagye was engaged with the team. We love Cricket and want to help the game grow in this part of the world.”

Everest, winning the Greater Accra League for the first time have been runners-up in 2016 and 2017. They also won the 2017 African Union Day cup, among others.

Playing in the Alpha league, their last match will be against GTA, who is 3rd with 4 points after beating Dilmah twice.
