Asante Kotoko forward Sadick Adams has expressed his disappointment he missed the opportunity to win the 2017 Ghana FA Cup Player of the Year award.
The former Berekum Chelsea striker was instrumental in the Red’s campaign, scoring a hat-trick in the final game against Hearts of Oak at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
But at a ceremony held at the plush M Plaza Hotel in Accra on Thursday, Hearts centre man Winful Cobbinah was picked as the Player of the knockout competition ahead of Saddick Adams.
He mentioned that he deserved the award more than any player, noting that he would entreat the organizers to come out and explain the criteria used.
“I am disappointed in the whole FA Cup awards ceremony held yesterday in Accra. It’s because I don’t know why I didn’t win the Most Valuable Player award [which was given to Winful Cobbinah],” Sadick told Metro FM.
“I don’t know the criteria that organisers used in selecting the best player of the competition under review because I think I deserved it. They must probably explain their criteria for Ghanaians to know,” he added.
Saddick indicated that he’s nearing full fitness having stayed off the pitch since last year.
“I have started running and I hope to join my teammates by next week for training,” he said.
“I’m not competing with anyone in the team for glories and only hope that when I return, I will be work too hard to get a place in the first team,” he added.
Asante Kotoko will travel to Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi to face league leaders Ashanti Gold.
