Ghana’s senior national cricket men’s team player, Rexford Bakum was adjudged the Man of the Match in their victory against the Gambia at the on-going ICC T20 Sub-regional tournament – West Africa Qualifier A.
The former U-19 captain scored 44 runs off 33 balls to win the accolade in the match 2 played at the Tafawa Balewa Square on Saturday, April 14, 2018.
Ghana, after winning the toss elected to bat first and put up a total score 173 runs for 4 wickets in the first innings.
Julius Horlali Mensah scored 37 runs, off 25 balls not out, while David Nii Ashong Ankrah also scored 34 runs, not out. Fellow teammates, Peter Ananya and Simon Ateak are the other batsmen with a score of 30 run off 31 balls and 6 runs, off 7 balls respectively.
The Gambians in the second innings could only manage 115 runs for 8 wickets. Ghana won by 58 runs, to top the day 1 table with 2 points.
In the bowling figures, David Mario Periera took 2 wickets for 12 runs in 2 overs while Isaac Kofi Otuafo Aboagye took 2 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs.
Ghana continues their campaign against Sierra Leone on Sunday yet in the second match of the day.
Sierra Leone who battled host Nigeria earlier in the day lost by 88 runs after 165 runs for 6 wickets and 77 runs, all out scores.
Nigeria will play the Gambia in the first match of day 2 at 9:30 am (8:30 am Ghana time).
