2018 World Cup : Dependability of VAR After Yuri Gazinski scored

FIFA had said the Video Assistant Referee will be used to monitor incident which the referee is unable to notice but it would be the responsibility of the referee to notify the VAR referee to replay the event before making a final decision.

A replay of the 12th-minute header scored by Yuri Gazinski, saw the Russia player shoving his marker off the way to head inside the net for the first goal.

Argentine referee, Nestor Pitana decided not to send the decision for review to the VAR official in their booth at the Luzhniki Stadium.

The decision has however sparked concern on social media some fans took to the social media to question the use of the VAR. A social media user said, “Russia conspiracies begin” as another tweeted “a political decision”.
