Agbeko, Polopala pays courtesy call ahead of Bout in Ho

Joseph ‘King Kong’ Agbeko will on Thursday, September 6, pay a courtesy call on the Chiefs of some traditional areas of Asogli State, ahead of his WBO Africa Bantamweight title defence at the Woezor Hotel.

Agbeko, who will come along with Anama Doste, ‘Polopala’, and also in the company of executives of Volta Regional Boxing Federation (VRBF), will visit Togbega Drake Tsi Gbe IV (Paramount Chief of Akoefe) at 4pm, Togbe Kotoku XIV (Paramount Chief of Kpenoe) at 5pm and Togbe Ayim V (Paramount Chief of Takla) at 6pm, on Thursday.

The Courtesy call, which is also to officially invite the Chiefs, continues with other traditional areas of the Asogli State on Friday, with visits to Dome, Bankoe, Hliha and Ahoe.

Chairman of the VRBF, Enam Foster Dagadu tells Herosportsgh.com the significance of the courtesy call.

“The courtesy call is very important because as Agbeko seeks to retain his title, he must see the rulers of the land on which he will fight. He will be doing the tour together with one of our finest, Polopala.”

Promoted by Aborigines and supported by the VRBF, the September 8 night bout which is dubbed ‘Rumble in Ho’, is also a Homecoming for Anama Dotse ‘Polopala’.

While King Kong fights Ekow Wilson from Ghana, Polopala will battle it out with a Ugandan, Sani Yidana Kublie in the Super Lightweight non-title bout.

Tickets go for GH₵50.00 and GH₵20.00 at 1st and 2nd Ringside respectively, while popular stand goes for GH₵10.00. The bout is sponsored by Concrete Alliance, FC Cosmetics, and DMM will see other undercards which include Nathaniel Nukpe up against Moses, John Kudeha vs Kwesi Tutu, Dodze Kemeh facing Francis Mensah, Victus Kemavor vs Emmanuel Allotey and Samuel Klutse Tordzro against Enock Owusu.
