Sporting Club Accra has won the Inter Youth Games Ghana 2018, in the U19 category after defeating all opponents faced through to the final as they pipped Rangers FC 2-1, to lift the decorated trophy.
Sporting Club Accra scored a whopping 16 goals overall in the tournament and conceded 4, with the most goals scored came in their first group fixture against Phoenix FC who have beaten 5 goals to nil.
On the road to a successful performance, players were awarded for good showings at the end of the tourney. The overall Best Player was handed to Sporting Club Accra’s diminutive midfielder Denis Hotor, who had a brilliant tournament and deserved the accolade. The overall top scorer award went to Ibrahim Adom, who bagged 5 goals in 6 matches to win the award.
In the other categories, the U17 best player award went to former Ghana U17 forward Nathaniel Onyina Opoku and the goal king went to 15 years old Emmanuel Anokye. The youngest player to play in the tournament is Micheal Acquah who played an integral part in the club trophy triumph.
Sporting Club Accra, is a third tier Ghanaian club based at Kasoa with a lot of youth prospect. They have produced exciting players for the youth national teams through to the senior national team with notable names like Caleb Gomina who plies his trade in Portugal, Mohammed Abu, Kwabena Owusu and many others who are playing in professional football abroad.
