Ghana’s Black Queens exited the Total 2018 AWCON tournament after a 1-1 draw with Cameroon at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The female senior national team of Ghana started the match on a good note as they mounted pressure on the Cameroonians to snatch the lead a minute after the half-hour mark.
Swedish-based Portia Boakye opened the score for the Black Queens with a stunning free-kick to beat goalkeeper Ngo Ndom in her post on the 31st minute.
Cameroon gained possession in the last ten minutes of the first department after Gabrielle Onguene was brought down in the 18-yard by Ghana goalkeeper Ama Asantewaa on the 43rd minute.
A minute alter skipper Manie Patience neatly converted the spot-kick awarded to them to end the first half in a one-all draw.
The two teams squandered their numerous chances created as well as the set-pieces awarded to them in the second department.
However, the Cameroonians booked themselves a ticket to the semi-final despite their one-all draw with Coach Bashir Hayford’s side.
Mali finished second in Group A after pipping North African country, Algeria 3-2 in their last game at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
