Volta’s only representative at the already wrapped up Stanbic Bank National Table Tennis League, Vilcabamba Table Tennis Club has received two honours at its Awards and Closing ceremony on Saturday, December 8, 2018.

The ceremony which was organized together with the under 21 ‘Pot’ Invitational Tournament at the Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium was to Award players who have exhibited character and success at the league which ended on November 10, 2018.

Volta, who finished 4th and 11th respectively for the female and male, had their 3rd seed Malwine Akator being adjudged the Most Improved Player while player and Coach David Senyo was adorned with the Most disciplined player of the League.

Vilcabamba Table Tennis Club, who didn’t partake in last year’s National League, was also presented with a cheque of GH₵1500.00 for placing 4th in the female category, while the first 3 in both categories received medals and cash prizes with the winners lifting a trophy each.

Head Coach, David Senyo Ahiaba, speaking as a coach and player expressed his shock and joy to Herosportsgh.com

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to the team especially the Chairman for helping us go through the league successfully despite the few challenges. I feel proud to be part of the success story of VTTC. Malwine did so well and deserves the award. I consider myself fortunate to have won the most disciplined player award, considering other fine personalities who were equally qualified. I think discipline is the hallmark of success and so winning that award comes as a surprise and joy at the same time. I hope that whatever good thing that was seen in me would be worthy of emulation.”

“Our media man Davis Clottey has also been very helpful and deserves to be encouraged to help in the development of Sports in the Volta region and the nation as a whole” He added.

The Club was represented by Jemilatu Mensah, Valeria Yayra, Millicent Selorm Ankude, Eyram Attipoe, Matilda Fodu and Malwine Akator for the females while Bright Dzotsiafe, Frank Sedewonu, Selassie Setorwofia and David Senyo Ahiaba battled in the male category.

VTTC will be present their laurels to their Chairman, Thomas Kuenyefu during their annual Championship on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at the Centre for National Culture in Denu, with a special ceremony to honour all players.
