Volta Cricket holds Scoring course ahead of Schools league

The Volta Cricket Association in preparation towards their impending school’s league held a refresher scoring course on Friday, January 11, 2019.

Handled by the Cricket Operations Officer of the Ghana Cricket Association, Mr Henry Benjamin Ackom, the one-day refresher which came off at the OLA SHS French Lab, saw both coaches and players present to enhance their knowledge base in Scoring.

The Volta Association held their maiden Scoring course in 2015 after which they had a refresher in April 2018.

It, therefore, became necessary to enhance and ensure how efficient and confidently they can score as a real test is about to begin, thus the impending U-12 league.

The league which will be played on Saturdays at the House Sports Stadium is a 15 over single round robin format for 10 selected schools within the Ho Municipality for boys and girls.

According to the secretary of the Association, Victor Tetteh, they will work around the clock to ensure the league begins early this term, as they couldn’t gather logistics to get it started before the 1st term of the 2018/2019 Academic term ended.

Volta, whoever tried a league of this sort back in 2016 but failed to complete it are eager to make the upcoming league successful from executive to completion.

Arguably the most vibrant regional Association in Ghana is poised to reclaim their activeness this year after winning that accolade in 2016.

They were chosen to host ICC-Africa in interaction with Parents, Pupils and Headteachers at Ho in 2018 during ICC-Africa’s 4-day visit to Ghana in November to review the GCA and make recommendations to ensure the growth of the sport.
