Former player of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Abdul Razak golden boy has said that the team’s coach, C.K Akunnor cannot take all the praise for Kotoko’s qualifications to the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup which is the first time in eleven years. He said that in a post-game interview with herosportsgh.com.
Razak who himself was a playmaker during his time with the club, was happy for a victory that sealed the qualification to the continental showpiece but expects the team to face their real test when the actual competition begins.
He said that Kotoko’s road to qualifying was a relatively easier one. “… the team had a walkover in the first match, then faced Kariobongi Stars of Kenya before meeting Coton Sports D’Garoua of Cameroon. This shows that Kotoko has not really been tested despite the team’s brilliance throughout the journey…”
He wants the coach to remain focused as they enter the next stage of the competition to ensure that they keep getting the results they want.
Razak further went on to give credit to the players and the technical team of the club. He said the coach deserves some credit but shouldn’t take all the praise for the feat that has brought joy to the whole of Kumasi.
