The Ghana Taekwondo Federation will begin their National Development Program with a Referees Course from Monday to Friday, February 11 – 15, 2019 at the Korea Sports Complex in Tema Community 3.
The IOC sponsored program through the GOC, will be the second 2nd National Referee Licence Course and the 1st Referee Refresher course for 40 participants, selected from all 10 regions in Ghana.
The 5-day residential program will be handled by Egyptian born Finish, Aly Mohamed Taher Nour, who is the Chairman of the Referees Committee of World Taekwondo Africa and former Vice Chairman of the World Taekwondo Referees Committee.
Opening Ceremony for the Course comes off on Monday at the Korea Sports Complex at 11am. The Opening Ceremony is expected to be the official opening for all three Development Programs for the Ghana Taekwondo Federation, known as ‘Development of National Sports System’ which includes an Administrators Seminar in March and a Coaching Course in April.
Director General of the National Sports Authority, Prof. Peter Twumasi, GOC President, Ben Nunoo Mensah, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Sungsoo KIM, among other dignitaries are expected to be present at the official opening.
Aly Nour, a 7th Dan Kukkiwon Master Instructor, with a 1st Class International Kyorugi Referee Licence and 2nd Class Poomsae Referee Licence has lectured in Refereeing and Coaching in countries like Palestine, Algeria, Zambia, Uganda, Nigeria, Morocco, among others. He is expected in the country on Sunday afternoon from Nigeria after attending the the just ended 1st Nigeria Open in Abuja.
Ghana held their First National Referee Licence Course in 2016 and was handled by the President of the Federation, Frederick Lartey Otu.
The GTF begun their busy year with the School to School Taekwondo campaign in January which is being handled by Volunteers from the World Taekwondo Peace Corps, Headquartered in Korea.
