Ho Card Clubs Association to hold First Awards Ceremony

The Ho Card Clubs Association (HOCCA) on Sunday, April 14, 2019, will be holding their Awards ceremony for their recently ended maiden edition League at the Ho Municipal Assembly Hall at 3 pm.

The First Awards Ceremony is to award deserving clubs during the one-year league, will begin. The 16 Club league with home and away matches which came to an end on Sunday, March 9 saw Clubs like Amenuveve Card Club, Apito Power Club, Atomic Card Club, Bankoe all Stars, Bazuka card Club, and City Power. Others include Freedom Stars, Golden Stars, Heve all Stars, Mighty Hands and Peace Youth.

The rest are Reggae Card Club, Showboyz Card Club, Sunset Card Club, Casino Card Club and Victory Card Club.

Chairman of HOCCA, Innocent Kodzo Dey tells the Awards is to announce their existence to the general public.

“The essence of the Awards is to inform the public about Playing cards. We have heard of people playing football, netball, Handball, Volleyball, tennis and others in the region. Most people are aware of all these events but never heard of Playing cards. We, therefore, want to be recognized as a serious sporting Association.”

It is evident that Cards playing has been on a low key with little or no publicity but it is very vibrant in Accra as a media house (Obonu FM) covers activities of the inter-community league.

Trophies and cash prizes are available to grab at the Awards ceremony come tomorrow, with winners taking home GH₵1000.00 as 1st and 2nd runner ups won’t be left out.

The Awards is expected to see in attendance the Deputy Regional Minister, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Regional Sports Director, Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association as well as the Sports Writers Association of Ghana-Volta. Political wings in the Volta region and Chiefs are also expected to grace the occasion.

The Ho Card Clubs Association was formed on 11th November 2017.
