Newly elected Chairman of the Referees Association of Ghana, RAG Ho Central zone, Philip Nii Tetteh Lomotey has told Herosportsgh.com he will eradicate the public perception about referees being corrupt.
PNT, who won the recently held election of the zone as the chairman after beating Wisdom Kumfour has the next four years, to make ‘Ho stand again’, as his campaign message stated.
The Police by profession believes there is no corruption in the business of officiating football matches across Ghana, against that of what many believe.
Referees are often tagged to be taking a bribe from team A or B, to manipulate the results of a match. Their decisions often get on the nerves of fans from near and far who otherwise think such decisions were either harsh or intended.
But The Sergeant has plans, in a way of educating the public to even win more people to take up Officiating.
“You know I am somebody who always fights about Corruption anytime people talk about referees. It is my aim to erase that perception about the populace about the referee’s fraternity that we are corrupted. That is the main aim but there are other ones which are internal. I will erase the canker through education, if you call on us, we will come and talk to the public and at the end, those who are against refereeing will come and join us.”
Many would imagine how this will become a reality as they strongly believe money turn the hands of referees to influencing their decisions on the pitch, but the next 4 years is the time to ascertain the truth.
