The Netball International Independence friendly, between Ghana and Nigeria, scheduled for the Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium, have been indefinitely postponed, Herosportsgh.com can confirm.
The match which was supposed to play on Saturday, March 3, 2018, to commemorate Ghana’s 61 years on Independence was shifted due to a request by the away team, Nigeria, who didn’t give the Ghana Netball Federation reasons.
However, 16 players who were called to a non-residential camping by the Federation, on Monday will be recalled.
President of the Ghana Netball Federation, Rev Emmanuel Dzanie Niikio in confirming the postponement to Herosportsgh.com says they will receive a favourable date from the Nigerians tomorrow, Saturday, March 3, 2018.
“They have pushed the date forward, so they will let us know by tomorrow the date that we will play. Well, they have already informed us of their intention so we have aligned all our preparation to await the new date that they will give us. We have postponed the camping, immediately we get the new date, we will call them back.”
Ghana managed to beat the PMB Club of Ikohi, Lagos, who played for Nigeria looks for a double success but wary of the stiff opposition they are bound to experience.
The National Netball team has ahead of them an Africa Senior Championship in August, a qualifier to the World Netball tournament.
