There were seven games honoured in the opening day of the top-flight with Aduana Stars against Liberty Professionals postponed following the former’s participation in the Caf Champions League

Back to the premier league, after their demotion, Dreams FC started on a brighter note with a 1-0 win over Elmina Sharks in Dawu thanks to Zuberu Sharani’s goal. However, the best player went to the visitors’ winger Richard ‘Kooko’ Mpong who was released by Aduana Stars after last season.
At the T&A Park in Tarkwa, Medeama handed debutants Karela United their first defeat in the Ghana Premier League with a 1-0 scoreline as former Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Boateng grabbing the only goal in the game but O. Jean Vital from Karela was the outstanding player.
