Javier Tebas confirmed that the week 26 game between Real Madrid and Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu will be staged at 7: 45pm on Saturday, March 2nd.
The very same week the second legs of the Copa del Rey are scheduled and just three days later, Madrid is in Champions League action as they face Ajax in the second leg of the Round of 16. Barcelona is in European action a week later as they face Lyon on March 13.
It will be the first time the two sides have met – assuming they avoid each other in the Copa del Rey tie – since Barca’s 5-1 thrashing of Madrid at the Camp Nou in October.
That match was the final game in charge for then Los Blancos boss Julen Lopetegui, who was subsequently replaced by Santiago Solari.
At the time of the announcement, Ernesto Valverde’s Barca is five points clear of Atletico Madrid at the top of La Liga and ten clear of fourth-placed Madrid.
